Does Running Build Muscle

What supplements should I take to gain muscle?

There are a lot of wonderful muscle building supplements available in the market today. The only problem people face is choosing the right one for themselves. The main reason for this is because these supplements don't always provide the same results. While having a proper training program and a healthy diet are very important when it comes to building muscle it may not always be enough. That is where supplements come into play. But as far as the question, "what supplements should I take to gain muscle" is concerned, here is a list of two of the best supplements which will make it a lot easier for you to make your choice:

1. BCAA (Branched-Chain Amino Acids)- These supplements have only become popular in recent years. But they have been around for quite a while now. Nowadays, they are considered among the best alternatives for steroids as well. They basically consist of three amino acids, Isoleucine, Valine and Leucine. These are the amino acids which break down faster than all others when you are working out. That's why, when you consume these acids before and after your workout, your muscles get a huge boost simply because these acids aren't depleted as quickly as they would have been. They even help with muscle rebuilding after a workout. While BCAA's are usually consumed along with protein supplements, even on their own, they can prove to be quite effective as far as muscle building is concerned. You don't need to consume more than 5 grams before your workout although as the intensity of your workouts increase, you may need to increase this consumption all the way to 20 grams. You might not always get capsules and in such situations you can choose to go with powders instead.

2. Creatine- This supplement was released all the way back in the 90's and is still considered one of the most effective muscle building supplements till date. This was the first supplement which actually delivered results and that is why it is preferred even today. It really does help you grow your muscles. Nowadays, there are quite a few different types of creatine which are available in the market, but the most cost effective one has got to be creatine monohydrate. As little as $ 5 will get you enough of this supplement to last a whole month. If you are serious about building muscle quickly, creatine should definitely be part of your diet. Your muscles are much more receptive to body building and workouts when they are properly hydrated. The only problem is that creatine monohydrate doesn't work for around 10 % of the people who try it. So if you don't start seeing results within a few weeks of taking this supplement you will probably have to move on to a stronger version of the supplement like creatine ethyl ester.
